Apiculture Empowerment Program

Empower 3,500 Farmers in Busia County Through Sustainable Beekeeping
The Vision

Under the PAP(K) Apiculture Empowerment Program, we are transforming rural livelihoods through sustainable apiculture — turning beekeeping
into a source of income, employment, and environmental restoration across Busia County, Kenya.

Our goal is to empower 3,500 smallholder farmers (100 farmers per ward) with the tools, training, and support needed to run successful apiaries.

The Sponsorship Model: “Sponsor a Farmer” – USD 847 Each

You can be part of this transformation

Sponsor 1 Farmer: USD 847
Sponsor 10 Farmers (a Cluster): USD 8,470
Sponsor a Ward (100 Farmers): USD 84,700

Each donation of USD 847 empowers one farmer for a full year with everything they need to thrive in beekeeping.

  • 10 modern beehives (Langstroth type)
  • Construction of a standard apiary
  • Comprehensive insurance for the farmer and apiary
  • Training and capacity building in modern apiculture, hive management, and honey harvesting
  • Farm management support for 12 months by PAP(K) agricultural officers
  • Guaranteed market access through the PAP(K) Cooperative
  • Honey processing and packaging at the PAP(K) Honey Centre
The Impact

Each sponsorship creates a direct and measurable impact:

  • Creates 1 new rural job and supports a family
  • Generates sustainable annual income through honey and wax sales
  • Promotes environmental conservation through pollination and reduced land degradation
  • Builds a self-sustaining community model — funds recovered from honey sales are reinvested to sponsor new farmers every year

📈 The Scale of Change

Sustainability

To ensure long-term impact:

  • All farmers will join the PAP(K) Cooperative, managing production, aggregation, and marketing.
  • The PAP(K) Honey Processing and Packaging Centre will add value, brand, and sell products across Kenya and export markets.
  • Income from honey and wax will sustain operations and fund new farmer sponsorships in subsequent years.
