For many communities across Kenya, challenges such as poverty, food insecurity, climate change, environmental degradation, unemployment, inadequate housing, limited access to healthcare, and social inequality continue to hinder progress. Yet within these same communities lies remarkable resilience, untapped potential, and an unwavering determination to build a better future.
Planet Afya Plus Kenya (PAP Kenya) exists to unlock that potential. We are a registered non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of vulnerable and underserved communities through sustainable, community-led development initiatives that create meaningful and lasting impact.
Our work is founded on a simple but powerful belief: communities are not passive recipients of development—they are the architects of their own transformation. Rather than imposing solutions, we work alongside communities, listening to their priorities, strengthening local capacities, and co-creating practical interventions that respond to real needs and deliver sustainable results.
Through integrated programmes in sustainable agriculture, apiculture, food security, environmental conservation, climate resilience, community health, water and sanitation, education, youth development, women’s economic empowerment, sustainable livelihoods, and housing, PAP Kenya is helping communities build stronger foundations for prosperity while safeguarding natural resources for future generations.

Today, PAP Kenya continues to collaborate with government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, academic institutions, private sector actors, and community leaders to expand opportunities, strengthen resilience, and contribute to Kenya’s national development priorities as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Who We Are
PAP Kenya is a Kenyan non-profit organization committed to advancing sustainable development through community-centred solutions that improve lives, strengthen resilience, and promote inclusive growth. Established with a vision of creating self-reliant and prosperous communities, our organization works with people at the grassroots level to address some of the most pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges facing the country today.
We recognize that development is most effective when it is driven by the people it seeks to serve. Every community possesses valuable knowledge, skills, traditions, and aspirations that, when supported through strategic partnerships and appropriate resources, can become powerful drivers of sustainable progress. For this reason, community participation is at the heart of everything we do.
Our multidisciplinary team works across diverse sectors, bringing together expertise in agriculture, environmental management, health promotion, community mobilization, economic empowerment, project management, education, governance, and capacity development. Our Story
The story of PAP Kenya is rooted in a deep understanding of the challenges faced by many rural and underserved communities across Kenya and an equally deep belief in the power of people to transform their own lives when given the opportunity.
For decades, many communities have struggled with recurring food shortages, declining agricultural productivity, unemployment, environmental degradation, inadequate housing, climate-related disasters, limited economic opportunities, and unequal access to essential services. These challenges often reinforce one another, creating cycles of poverty that are difficult to break through isolated interventions.
PAP Kenya was founded to respond to these realities with a different approach.
From the beginning, our founders recognized that sustainable development requires more than short-term assistance. It requires long-term partnerships, local ownership, capacity building, innovation, and investment in the strengths that already exist within communities.
Our earliest programmes focused on promoting sustainable agriculture, supporting smallholder farmers, encouraging modern apiculture, empowering women, and protecting the environment. These initiatives demonstrated that when communities receive appropriate training, resources, and support, they are capable of creating extraordinary transformation.
As our experience grew, so did our understanding of the interconnected nature of development. We expanded our work to include youth empowerment, community health, water and sanitation, sustainable livelihoods, housing, climate resilience, environmental restoration, and institutional capacity strengthening.
Today, PAP Kenya implements integrated programmes that address multiple development challenges simultaneously, enabling communities to build resilient livelihoods while improving health, education, environmental sustainability, and economic well-being.
Although our programmes have evolved over time, our purpose has remained constant: to empower communities to become self-reliant, resilient, and capable of shaping their own future.

Why We Exist
Around the world, millions of people continue to face barriers that prevent them from realizing their full potential. In Kenya, these barriers often include poverty, unemployment, climate change, food insecurity, environmental degradation, inadequate infrastructure, gender inequality, and limited access to education, healthcare, and sustainable economic opportunities.
These challenges are complex and interconnected. They cannot be solved through isolated interventions or temporary relief efforts alone.
